Junior Scientist
My client is looking for a Junior Scientist to join their team, full training is given, so previous experience is not essential, but a keenness to learn with a driven approach is.
A strong educational background would be great specifically in Physics and/or Chemistry, but it is not essential. This role will primarily be involved with the company’s performance based additive product range together with R&D activities reporting to the Associate Scientist.
Salary: up to £28,500
Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Junior Scientist Duties:
- To assist the Technical and Sales Teams
- Testing and analytical activities
- Determination of metal species in plastic products and additives via XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) Spectroscopy
- Identification of polymer type and composition
- Accelerated ageing and stability testing of plastic
- Conduct and report experimental work
- Conduct literature reviews, plan and conduct experiments
- Technical sales support activities
- Process all test samples in accordance with company procedure
- Keep relevant parties informed on progress of sample testing and advise expected lead times
- Communicating test results to relevant parties
- Basic polymer science,
- Extrusion and conversion processes
- Relevant analytical and accelerated ageing techniques
- Carry out duties in accordance with the company’s QMS which are ISO9001 & ISO14001
